Q. Why are lights on in Regenstein when the Library is closed?

The Library has taken a number of steps to reduce energy use while the Library is closed during the COVID-19 emergency, and many of Regenstein's lights are off. However, Regenstein was designed so that a significant number of light fixtures would remain on 24 hours a day, supported by emergency power, for safety purposes during emergencies. We are actively working with Facilities Services to reduce the number of lights on in the building.
